Senator Anna Kaplan Earns Backing of Broad Coalition of Labor Unions in Re-Election Effort

With one month to go until the August 23 primary, Kaplan announces endorsements from 14 major labor unions representing over 1.4 million New York union members

PORT WASHINGTON, NY (July 25, 2022) – With less than one month to go before the August 23 primary, New York State Senator Anna M. Kaplan (D-North Hills)announced that she’s earned endorsements from a broad coalition of labor unions who are supporting her campaign for re-election to the New York State Senate. The coalition includes the Long Island Federation of Labor, New York State AFL-CIO, 1199 and 32BJ Service Employees International Union (SEIU), American Postal Workers Union (APWU), North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC), Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 1, New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) Local 338, SMART Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers, LiUNA Laborer’s International Union of North America New York, Transport Workers Union Local 100 (TWU) and the Council of School Administrators (CSA).

The coalition of labor unions supporting Senator Kaplan’s re-election represent over 1.4 million union members across the State. New York continues to be a bedrock of the union movement, with approximately 1.72 million union members statewide, and more than 250,000 union members on Long Island.
