How to Vote in the August 23, 2022 Primary

This year, there are two primary elections in New York, and Senator Kaplan will be on the August 23 primary ballot.

Don’t wait till the last minute to make a plan to vote, check out your options below for early voting, voting by mail, and voting in-person on primary day.

Important Dates for the August 23, 2022 Primary

August 8 – Last day for the Board of Elections to receive your absentee ballot application by mail, email, or fax.

August 13 – Early in-person voting begins.

August 21 – Last day of in-person early voting.

August 22 – Last day to apply in person at the Board of Elections for an absentee ballot.

August 23 – Primary Election Day. Last day to postmark absentee ballots. Last day to deliver ballots IN PERSON to the Board of Elections or to any poll site in Nassau County.

Vote Absentee by Mail

Step 1: Apply for an absentee ballot to vote by mail. 
Click here to request your absentee ballot. August 8 is the last day to request an absentee ballot for the August 23 primary election.

 

Step 2: Receive your absentee ballot.
  • Once you receive the ballot, mark the ballot according to your choices for each office following the instructions on the ballot.
  • Fold it up and place it in the Security Envelope. (This envelope will have a place for your signature.)
  • Sign and date the outside of the Security Envelope.
  • Seal the Security Envelope.
  • Place the Security Envelope in the Return Envelope. (This envelope will have the return address of the Nassau County Board of Elections on the outside and should have a logo that reads, “Official Election Mail”)
  • Seal the Return Envelope.
 
Step 3: Return your ballot.

You may return the ballot in any of the following ways for the August 23 Primary Election:

  • Put it in the mail ensuring it receives a postmark no later than August 23.
  • Bring it to the Nassau County Board of Elections during normal business hours no later than August 23 by 9pm.
  • Deposit it in the absentee ballot bin at any early voting poll site in Nassau County during operating hours between August 13 and August 21.
  • Deposit it in the absentee ballot bin at any polling place in Nassau County between 6am and 9pm on August 23.

Early In-person Voting

From Saturday, August 13 through Sunday, August 21, you can vote early in-person at any of the below listed early voting location in Nassau County.

Days, hours, and locations as follows:

Saturday, August 13 – 9am to 6pm
Sunday, August 14 – 9am to 6pm
Monday, August 15 – 6am to 5pm
Tuesday, August 16 – 10am to 7pm*
Wednesday, August 17 – 10am to 7pm
Thursday, August 18 – 10am to 7pm*
Friday, August 19 – 10am to 6pm
Saturday, August 20 – 9am to 6pm
Sunday, August 21 – 9am to 6pm

(*The Board of Elections polling place in Mineola is open till 8pm on 8/16 and 8/18)

In-person Voting on Primary Election Day (Tuesday, August 23)

Polling places will be open from 6am – 9pm on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, August 23.
